Abigail Mary Orr

Posted in thoughts at 5:47 pm by Melissa

The post that everyone has been waiting for and I have been waiting to write! Abigail Mary Orr was born January 20th at 3:54am at 37 weeks and a couple hours. She is very healthy, beautiful, and absolutely amazing! After all the prayers and worry that she would come much too early I managed to make it to the day I hit 37 weeks for my blood pressure to spike one more time. My doctor really didn’t want to deliver before 37 weeks and also didn’t want to start me on meds after that point so God had great timing and we now have a healthy baby girl. I still have some recovering to do, but in a lot of ways I already feel better than I have for a few months. My Mom is here for a few days to help us get rested and settled and that has been such a blessing already. Thanks for sharing Dad! Thanks to everyone for all the prayers and encouragement during the last 37 years (oops, I think that should be weeks).

For the entire pregnancy I have avoided cameras because I am an insecure girl feeling more like an elephant. I decided to get over myself and capture the moment on Sunday so I can show this baby “what you did to Mom”. :) Karisa, this should make you feel tiny! Here is one of the only belly pics from this pregnancy. No wonder I’m so tired!

Here is our little girl at about one minute old.  She was covered with vernix so she was all white and slimy.  Don’t worry.  The pictures get cuter!

She weighed in at 7 pounds 1 ounce.

Here she is at a few hours old after a much needed bath!

Proud Daddy!

Here is the fan club.  We got a nice pic of Grandpa and all his girls.  Josiah was not quite ready to be in a picture at this point.  A new baby getting attention and Mommy with an IV had him a little upset.

This is how my little boy is dealing with stress this week.  He asks for his “soother and two blankies” which actually means a soother, four blankets, and a few toys.  He was almost completely done with his soother and only using it for a few minutes to fall asleep, but this has been a stressful week in his little world!  I was glad to see he was still happy enough to smile for Grandma and Grandpa on the way to visit us!

Here is our very first family picture!

We all had to check her out!

Josiah is warming up to the idea of the baby.  I love the admiring look in his eye!  I think he’ll be a great big brother!

Grandpa Bell and his newest girl!

“Sweet moment” as my Mom would say :) .

Here’s Abigail with her closest cousin Gianna.  Monica figured out that Linaya and Josiah are exactly 12 weeks to the day apart in age and now Abigail and Gianna are exactly 12 weeks apart.  Fun to have cousins so close!

Here is a pic of her first night at home in her bassinet with her new quilt from Grandma.

Here is one more pic of our pretty girl!  We are so blessed!
