Our cute kid
Josiah has grown up so much the last couple months. He talks in sentences, sings songs (at least does actions and repeats a word or two), and likes to tell jokes. His jokes almost always are that he says “hat”, puts something silly on his head and then laughs and says “nooooo”. I put this picture on as my facebook profile pic and every time he sees it he says “Siah pot head” and laughs.
He also got “big boy underwear” from the movie “Cars”, but as you can see he doesn’t really have them figured out yet. He doesn’t really understand the potty training idea yet, and since he isn’t even two yet I’m not worried. He has figured out that occasionally yelling “poopy, poopy” in church gets him taken out for a few minutes.
This picture reminded me of all the first day of school pictures Mom used to take of us. We were waiting for Monica to pick us up and he looked all grown up.
This is a very typical look. Josiah running somewhere! He is so busy and his favorite place to be is outside. He was pointing to Daddy’s motorcycle and had to go check it out.
He also loves to see “what daddy doing” and “what pampa doing”. They have fun toys and always stop to play when they pass him. He loves that he can see out of the new door in our kitchen. Every time he’s gone into the kitchen for the past two weeks he says “Pampa new door. Nice!” I am also very excited about my new door!
My sweet little boy is also a stubborn little boy sometimes and so he has a naughty stool in the corner of the living room. Hitting, kicking, and throwing food are not allowed. For anyone who thinks a one year old can’t understand time out, here’s how I know he gets it. A couple weeks ago Josiah threw his entire plate of food on the floor and got a time out. After he was done he went and picked up “Little Man” and put him on the stool. He said in a very serious voice “Little man. Big mess. Time out! You sit.” I was having a hard time not laughing. A minute later he went and signed the word “sorry” on little man’s chest with his finger and said the word sorry. He gave little man a kiss and said “play”. I think he has the idea!
And this is what happens when you give a one year old a fudgesicle!
Last week was also a busy week with Doctor appointments for Josiah. Last surgery he had his (hopefully last) tear duct surgery. This time is was just for one eye that still has a blocked tear duct. They put a little tiny tube in from the tear duct into his nose and used one stitch to hold it in place. This will stay there for a couple months and then be taken out. A very minor surgery, but it is still hard to let your baby go under general anesthetic. I was happy to have that behind us.
The second appointment he had was to follow up with the neurologist about the seizures he had. That appointment went very well. His neuro exam was completely normal and apparently he talks more than he is supposed to at this age. The neurologist was happy that he has only had one seizure since he saw him last and said that Josiah only having one seizure (and not two seizures within 24 hours) with the last episode could be a good sign that his body is learning how to deal with fevers better. We don’t have to go see the neurologist again unless we have concerns or if he ever had a seizure without a fever. This has never happened and they don’t expect it to. It will be nice for him to be done with doctors for a while.
Next week is my turn with the doctors as I have another routine check up and then an ultrasound on Friday. I’m trying to stay firm on my decision to be surprised if it is a boy or girl, but it is tempting to find out…. It would make it easier to choose a name. I’m almost 22 weeks and starting to feel better. We’re hoping the second half of this pregnancy goes better than the first!
